Our Luscious Life

As you may have noticed, I've not posted a blog in several months. This is why. I'm having to slow myself way down and create a new pacing for my life as I recover from Chronic Fatigue myself. It's hard to admit, especially as it coincides with my slipping into the 8th decade of my life. I hardly know of anyone who wants to slow down, to give up precious things like the car and traveling more now that I have the time, but less energy. Strangely enough some old comfort foods are easier to give up as I see the results of slow but sure healing. Of course being way less OCD about housework is great. Who wants to constantly wrestle with dust bunnies? They won't go away anyway until the next go through with the vacuum. I don't know how fast or even how much I'll heal. Yet, I feel support reading my friend Dawne's book where she goes through a similar winding path on her way to the best recovery she can. Her courage gives me courage. Who knows, but I may be able to write and post my art even more in future. Here's the review I posted for her book:

Lusciously Nurtured is a journey wrapped up within the covers of a book. Dawne’s journey through her Fibromyalgia with complications of Diabetes and ME (Chronic Fatigue) is heart-warming, gritty with honesty, and has a compendium of information and tips that will help fellow-sufferers along a similar path. Care-givers and loved ones will no doubt gain empathy for this disability that is often hidden because it is an internal suffering where the sufferer often tries to keep going in as normal a life as possible while drowning in fatigue and pain. It is part memoir and part statistical with her huge gathering of facts, sprinkled with poetry, photography, and recipes. It is also an internal journey where one discovers some of the triggers, often stress induced, as well as the little joys of healing along the way. This can be as simple as watching a squirrel or flower bloom to the days when one wakes up with symptoms diminished for a few hours, the day, or even forever. As a fellow sufferer of Chronic Fatigue and low thyroid, I found myself nodding, tearing up, or smiling over similar experiences and common ways that we’ve healed. I also discovered new tricks to add to my repertoire. Mostly I felt I wasn’t alone on this pathway. It is out in Kindle and Nook formats.
