Robin for Robin, watercolor, 2025, (inspired by Jean Haines)
It's been quite a while since I've posted, 2022 to be exact. Yet, in this gap I've gotten through the isolation of the pandemic and moved to a new town in the East Bay from Sonoma County. All the while I've tended to my novel in progress and practiced my fine art nearly every day. Now I'm about to attend the first SCBWI (Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators) conference in over a decade. Not that I didn't want to attend more often, but having to sell my car when I moved from New Mexico in 2015, it's been harder to get around, especially from the smaller town north of here. Now that I live in the East Bay, I'm re-learning how to get about on BART. That's an adventure in itself, and I'm glad I can do it in my golden years.
I am also re-learning how to navigate this blog that I call my "website." I am dismayed that some of the former images in the blog part are now blank. I will try to fix this soon, so I'm grateful for your patience. Mostly I'm pleased that I've dared to put up some more of my art in the Art Gallery, some fine art, some personal art like the barn on the ranch I lived when a teen, and even a couple of illustrations for picture books in progress. It is my big dream to write books for children. I believe that the illustrations need tweaking. Therefore I am looking forward to being with SCBWI authors and illustrators for mutual inspiration, support, and camaraderie.
